I had the unique opportunity to participate in an all out blitz “28-hour Microsoft Kinect v2 Hackathon” in downtown New York. Partnering with UNMAS (the UN’s land mine clearing & removal task force) two other developers and I created a powerful interactive educational experience using a new Microsoft technology called “Ripple” to simulate what it feels like to walk through an actual minefield. On top of the chaos of developing a functional development prototype, implementing into their experimental Ripple system and staying awake for 36 hours, I also documented the entire expereince on my GM1. “Sweeper” brings visibility to the horrors both civilians and workers face in these war-torn areas of the globe every day.
